Christmas Tree Napkin Ring DIY
Here at Berry and Pine, I found a large stash of felt in holiday colors and knew I needed to create some napkin rings. They’re a great way to add festive fun to a holiday table and even work to deliver a treat or gift.
To make this napkin holder a cool candy cane delivery system, just cut the slits about one quarter inch when the piece is folded. That way, the candy cane will slide right in so you can gift it with pizazz… I can’t believe I just typed pizazz.

Materials Needed for This Easy Christmas Craft Idea
I used a premium grade felt – it just means it’s a little thicker than the floppy, thin felt available at some of the craft stores. These thicker pieces are right next to those thinner ones and also available online.
- Felt
- Scissors
- Printer and Paper
- Optional, Chalk
- Optional, Pins or Clips
TIP: You can absolutely use the thinner felt for this craft, but the thicker ones keep their shape better.

How to Make This Holiday Tree Felt Napkin Ring
First, download, print, and cut out the free felt napkin holder template. It will have this craft and two others you can create with simple felt.
Fold the felt as wide as it takes to cover the template’s widest part. Clip or pin for an easier time.
To make it easier, use chalk to outline the paper template. It easily comes off the felt for future crafts.

Cut out the outside edge of the template. If you used the chalk, cut the inside line.
While the napkin holder is folded, use the template as a guide to cut the two slits.

Roll up a cloth napkin and pass it through the two slits. The napkin will show through the center portion between the slits.
